The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) has decided to hold a referendum in each of the ten district councils so that the people of Greater Manchester can express their views upon the acceptability or otherwise of Greater Manchester's transport innovation package, including the proposed congestion charge.
More than 1.9 million people across the ten councils in Greater Manchester will be given the opportunity to vote on the final transport innovation proposals in December this year.
