Ipsos MORI, a specialist independent market research agency, was engaged to carry out opinion research for the public consultation and at the beginning of the consultation, carried out surveys with a sample of 5,000 members of the public (500 individuals in each of the ten Greater Manchester districts) and 1,000 businesses across Greater Manchester.
You can read the reports on these surveys here.
Versions 1 of the Greater Manchester TIF Package Resident and separate Business Survey reports have been updated and replaced (now labelled version 2).
The survey findings have not changed between versions 1 and 2 of the reports.
Version 2 of the Resident and Business reports include additional clarification and explanation of the technical terminology used. Also, inconsistencies in the terminology between the Resident and Business reports have been addressed, and a small number of typographic corrections made.

Research into the impact of congestion charging on time spent in the city centre.
Car Users and the Weekday PM Peak
Last year, we asked people across Greater Manchester whether we should submit a bid.
Polling among the general public and businesses researched the extent to which people agreed or disagreed with certain statements about the bid e.g. the principle of a £3bn investment to include congestion charging.
Public meetings and roadshows were organised across Greater Manchester to provide the opportunity for all sections of the community to register their views on the bid.
Between the end of May and mid July 2007 we received a wide range of feedback through our website, letters, emails, comment cards at exhibitions, stakeholder events, opinion polling work and focus groups. We analysed and logged all of this feedback and the results are published here.
TIF Acceptability Research Summary Report
Before confirming our bid we ran a series of deliberative events for the public and for other key stakeholders. The results are published here.
TIF Public & Stakeholder Engagement
We also ran deliberative events specifically for young people. The results are published here.
